This is an IBM/LENOVO THINKPAD T40 ultra-slim laptop at only 1 inch thick. Each T40 computer we sell comes with a certificate of functionality, software bundle and many upgrades. Each machine has been completely refurbished by IT professionals and is in great working condition.

Here are some caveats about buying pre-owned computers.

1- There is a lot of junk out there. We only purchase our laptops from a company that we trust that does outstanding technical work. These are corporate "off lease" machines. Most of them have sat in a corporate office and been used for not much other than email and word processing. As such, it is not uncommon for these machines to look almost new! We do not sell junk! Everything is grade A! We do not deal in grade B or C equipment...EVER!

2- If they have not been refurbished with the hard drive wiped and reformatted with a new software installation, there is a very high likelihood that the computer contains corrupted files, junk files that rob memory, spyware, adware or malware... You are simply buying somone's used laptop along with its problems.

3- Beware of "stock" photos. If there are not pics of the actual unit, you have no idea what you are buying. What you see here in our pics is what you are getting. Compare specs VERY carefully. You get what you pay for. Cheap is not best! If you are paying under $300 for a laptop something is wrong somewhere. Cheap laptops get very expensive quickly if you have to start buying parts! You do not have to worry about that with our computers. We include a certificate with every computer we sell along with a 30/60 day limited warranty*. After we get our computers back from IT they are cleaned and tested yet again using a 15 point check system.

4- If there is not a valid COA and it has not been authenticated and activated you may have an invalid copy of the operating system that will not work after 30 days. Buying a new OS will cost you between $100-200! All our machines have valid COAS and are authenticated and acvtivated!

The IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad series has long been considered the standard of excellence in the industry and called
the "Mercedes of PC laptops". It is perfect for business people, students and everyday users. The LCD is an XGA Hi Res that is bright and clear with intense color graphics. All the plastics are in great condition along with the keyboard and associated buttons. The machine comes loaded with hundreds of dollars worth of software including Windows XP Pro/Home SP3 , Microsoft Office Small Business Suite (POWERPOINT, EXCEL, WORD, PUBLISHER AND OUTLOOK), MS Essentials antivirus... The hard drive has been completely wiped and reformatted and reloaded with fresh new certified, authenticated and activated software.

With a 80GB hard drive, 1.6 GHZ Pentium M/Centrino processor at effective speeds up to over 2.0 GHZ and 1GB of RAM the wireless internet and programs run very fast. We have even tested the unit on our own wireless network while playing a song on WMP and surfing the net downloading graphics intense pages and streaming videos. It never missed a beat! Programs load quickly and even running multiple programs simultaneously is fine.

HERE ARE SOME FAQS AND SPECS:

Who the heck are you guys and why should I trust you? We are part of one of the Southeast's largest networks of IBM/Lenovo parts and computer suppliers.

What does "refurbished" mean and how is it a value to me? Refurbished simply means it works and that when the computer comes back off lease it is completely tested and overhauled by IT pros with parts being replaced as necessary. The computers are then cleaned and run through diagnostics testing for full functionality. When we get them back from IT we personally run them through a 15 point check system. While you are looking for computers make sure they are refurbished not "used". The value to you is that you have a fully functioning machine that you won't have to dump $200 into to get it working.

Is it in nice condition or does it look like the kids played street hockey with it?
It looks almost new. Plastics are in great shape with no cracks or black electrical tape (yes, I have seen laptops sold with electrical tape holding them together), only normal usage scratches, none or very little key wear.


Is the LCD monitor clear with no weak spots or dead pixels?
Yes, the clarity is awesome with vivd color! Sometimes screens have minor scratches or some minor screen shadowing in spots, but nothing that diminishes screen appearance to any significant degree.

Does everything work or am I going to have to dump another $200 bucks into it to get it to work?
It works great! It has been completely overhauled by certified IT professionals. Battery and AC adapters have been replaced if tested non-functional.

Can I connect to a wireless network or WIFI hotspot?
Yes, it has an 802.11 b/g/n compatible mini PCI internal card included.

Is it fast or am I going to grow a beard waiting for downloads and program loads?
It is vey fast. The P M/Centrino processor performs at speeds equivalent to over 2.0 GHZ and is more than adequate for most user applications.

Can I add RAM?

Yes, but there is probably no need to since we have 1GB installed. Beware of machines with 256MB. New OS don't like that. Your pants will go out of style waiting for programs to boot with 256MB.

Does it have a CDRW/DVD drive?

Yes, it has a fully tested CDRW/DVD drive so you can play your favorite music, watch movies, burn music...

Does the battery work?

Yes, it has been replaced if tested non-functional and tested to hold at least a 1 hour charge in power saver mode.* If you buy a cheaper machine with a bad battery or no battery plan on adding about another $100 to the price. Not here.

-*30/60 WARRANTY: 30 day warranty covers the following components only (hard drive, mother board, CD drive, LCD screen, RAM chip, peripheral ports, fan motor and keyboard). It does not imply a performance guarantee, any damage to unit caused by buyer including dropage, water and or heat damage, any type of user error, viruses, malware, trojans, cosmetics or any other incidental damage... Any hardware installed, removed or modified in any way after buyer possession automatically voids warranty. Any software, wallpaper or download that results in system lock up, diminished performance or corruption of any kind also voids warranty. 60 day warranty extends the 30 day warranty to the GPU and CPU only and warrants what we identify as "catastrophic failure" of either component. The same limitations apply to the 60 day warranty as aforementioned in the 30 day warranty. Warranty provides for repair or replacement only under certain conditions outlined herein. If a warranty claim is filed within 30/60 days from date of receipt, buyer will incur all return costs and unit will be inspected by IT to see if damage was caused purposefully. If IT determines that damage was purposeful or a result or buyer negligence, no repair or replacement will be granted. Any warranty claim made after the 30 day warranty period that extends to 60 covering the GPU/CPU will incur a fixed forty dollar ($40) diagnostic/labor fee that must be paid prior to buyer receiving repair or replacement product. There is no warranty on repaired/replaced product.

-* BATTERY GUARANTEE: Reconditioned battery is guaranteed to hold at least a 1 hour charge upon arrival when machine is running in the power saver mode. If machine is running in high system performance mode, charge time could be reduced below 1 hour and is not warranted. If battery does not hold charge as specified, buyer must notify us within 7 days of receipt of machine via email and return to ShockNet at buyer expense. If battery is verified to be malfunctioning we will replace at no cost.
